Student Spotlight: Jackie Boutros – Genuine. Goal-Driven. Compassionate.

Meet Jacqueline “Jackie” Boutros — a 16-year-old force of nature who has called our community home since 2014. Currently an honors student at Pine Crest School, Jackie embodies what it means to be a well-rounded, purpose-driven young woman. Whether she’s excelling on the ice as assistant captain of the Pine Crest hockey team or serving children with disabilities through her volunteer work, Jackie shows up with excellence, empathy, and ambition in everything she does.

Academic Excellence Meets Athletic Passion

Jackie joined Pine Crest in eighth grade and immediately knew she had found her academic home. A consistent honor roll student, she balances her rigorous studies with an intense commitment to sports. Jackie is a competitive travel hockey player and has previously swum and played tennis for the City of Coral Springs.

She’s also on her way to earning her third-degree black belt in martial arts — talk about fierce dedication!

Jackie’s daily schedule is a true testament to her incredible work ethic. She’s up by 5:45 AM, in school until the evening, and on the ice from 7:00 to 9:30 PM several nights a week. Yet she still manages to make time for homework, family, and community service. It’s no surprise that her mother, Alicia Boutros, describes her proudest quality as tenacity: “She’s my all-rounder — a sweet little girl in my eyes — but so powerful in presence,” said Alicia.

Heart for Service

Jackie’s heart for others shines brightly through her volunteer work. She’s a proud participant in Chariots on Ice USA, where she helps children with disabilities experience the joy of ice skating. Guiding them onto sleds and spending hours making sure they feel included, Jackie finds deep fulfillment in their joy.

She also initiated a heartfelt project during the holidays, organizing Christmas gift bags for children receiving cancer treatments — inspired by her own family’s experience with loss due to cancer.

Creativity & Entrepreneurship

During the pandemic, Jackie launched “Jackie B Crafty,” a handmade gift box brand where each item is inspired by someone in her life. Each piece includes a message of positivity and a name honoring the person who inspired it — for example, The Octavia Box might reflect courage or grace. Though she paused the project due to school, she now co-manages it with her younger sister and plans to relaunch it soon.

Future Aspirations

Jackie is setting her sights on a career in medicine — with interests in anesthesiology, dermatology, or plastic surgery. Her family is currently seeking local mentorship opportunities to help her gain hands-on exposure to the field. When asked which doctor she would most love to shadow, Jackie shared:

“If I could shadow any doctor, I would choose Dr. Sheila Nazarian, a renowned plastic surgeon. She’s not only incredibly skilled in her field, but she also uses her platform to educate and empower others, especially young women in medicine. I admire how she balances being a surgeon, businesswoman, and advocate for confidence and self-care. Shadowing her would give me insight into the artistic and medical sides of plastic surgery and inspire me as a future doctor who wants to help people feel their best, inside and out.”

Jackie in Her Own Words

Q: What’s one challenge you’ve overcome that made you stronger?
Balancing the intense demands of academics and sports while maintaining my mental and physical health. Juggling schoolwork, practices, and personal life often left me feeling overwhelmed, but it taught me valuable lessons in time management, discipline, and self-care under pressure.

Q: What does success mean to you personally?
Success means that I’m living in alignment with my values: being kind, making a positive impact on others, and constantly growing. It’s not just about achievements, but about knowing I’ve given my best and stayed true to who I am.

Q: How do you stay motivated when you feel tired or overloaded?
I remind myself why I started. I think about the future I’m working toward and the people who believe in me. Taking small breaks, practicing hockey, working out, and listening to music help recharge me.

Q: What does “girl power” mean to you?
Confidence, strength, and unity. It’s about lifting each other up, breaking stereotypes, and knowing that being a girl is powerful in every way — intellectually, emotionally, and physically.

Q: Favorite quote or scripture?
Isaiah 40:31 — ‘But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.’ It speaks to me because it’s a message of perseverance and strength even in exhaustion — perfect for someone balancing a full life like I am.

Family Ties

Jackie credits much of her strength to her family. She is the daughter of Michael and Alicia Boutros, and big sister to Michael and Mikayla, younger twins who inspire her every day. Her strong foundation at home has helped shape the confident, compassionate leader she is becoming.
